Dr Crowfoot, I have a three step question.
1.) At what age should a child start brushing their teeth?
2.) How often should a child brush their teeth?
3.) what type of toothpaste do you recommend for them? Thank-you Amy Mother of three

1.) Children should start brushing between the ages of 14 and 18 months.
2.) Children should brush their teeth at least three times a day, it should become an instinctual habit.
3.) Kids toothpaste is highly recommended, they are milder than those used by adults.
It is important to understand that children start mimicking others at a very young age, if the child observes you brushing your teeth; then that would be a very positive influence. If time permits have your child brush your teeth and you brush theirs, then re-brush yours again after.
